Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Wine
Mac Forbes Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of declassified barrels from the winery's premium single vineyard wines, sourced from across the Yarra Valley.
The fruit is handpicked from various Mac Forbes sites, including vineyards at Woori Yallock, Coldstream, Yarra Junction and Hoddles Creek.
Fermentation occurs in hand plunged open fermenters with indigenous yeasts. There is some whole bunch inclusion and a portion of the fruit is foot stomped. Time on skins ranges from 6-30 days.
Once pressed, the wine matures for 12 months in seasoned oak barrels before blending. It does not see fining or filtration at bottling.
Pale ruby, Mac Forbes Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is light to medium bodied with fresh red berry flavours, fine gravelly tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
